I bought the Psycho Killer import 12 on eBay recently. Why does EVERYTHING ALWAYS SOUND BETTER ON 12"? I don't know and it doesn't matter. It's so weird holding a record like that in your hands bc I can't help but think how intensely Byrne and the rest of the band must have been micro-managing the design and wanting to be perceived a certain way, etc etc
As I've mentioned before, I'll always find it fascinating to hear alternate versions of songs that are so colossal it's impossible to imagine them any other way. As if to prove this point, there's a different version of Psycho Killer on the import 12, with different lyrics and some violins. Weird! Also I threw on the B-side "I Wish You Wouldn't Say That" just for the reason of why not.

I shot and produced this band Surfer Blood for my job recently. It was super stressful, since my DP and I were basically shooting a half music video and half performance hybrid for this song "Floating Vibes." They also play "Swim" and "Take It Easy" -- 2 other albums from the LP that I like a lot. The band's kinda Weezer-circa-Blue-y... you can watch the clips and read more here.

I did an email interview with Saheer from House of House for my job. We talk about late night grub spots, influences, why house is huge in Europe and basically nowhere else, and other random stuff. Read here!

I haven't put new music up in a while, so here's a burn of 2 mixes of Life Is Something Special by the Peech Boys.
Larry Levan, son! Always good.
Life Is Something Special (Vocal mix & Special Edition mix)
So I can buy this NOW.

This song was written and produced Sept 11, 2008 as an act of patriotism and reverence for 911. If you don't believe Obama is muslim check out http://www.barakhusseinobama.name
This is video studio version of the song "Obama Muslim 911" by WinterBand Unplugged
Special thanks to Hayseed on guitar and vocals and especially the Dept of Corrections for allowing him to do this as part of work release.
Please see our CDs and video DVDs at http://www.winterband.com
The chair we are using is the ErgoChair http://www.ergochair.biz
We hope our music is a blessing to you. We mostly play original Christian Bible based songs, original contemporary Christian music. Christian rock music.
Jesus H Christ. Big shout out to the Department of Corrections for letting Hayseed out of the joint! And also can't forget Ergo Chair in the house for providing those absurd bouncy egg-shaped jawns! Also, this is our song "Obama Muslim 911" which, OK, isn't technically a sentence, a sentence fragment, or even a phrase, but more like a tag cloud. Also the outfits. Good Christ the outfits. Is Hayseed or is Hayseed not wearing a literally Klansman Grand Wizard cloak?
What's up sons and daughters of Christ, our lord and savior! To celebrate this ridiculously amazingly wonderful day, I'm putting up a mix I put together over this last week of dance shit. I came up with a bunch of these blends in early 2008 when I was practicing at home for the night I played at 205 in the basement with Saheer, which explains why a lot of these songs are a few years old. You know what's weird is that I was looking in my computer for pics from 2007 to put up here and realized that Zubes and I originally came up with this blog in February of 07, so I guess happy 3 years old for this blog? Anyways Zubes had pressing engagements culture jamming elsewhere so she ran away from 21 Gun responsibilities. Zubes come back!
Here's a picture of me from 2007:

I saw this on Facebook, I saw this on Gawker. Only a matter of time before Videogum, Vulture, et al have put it up as well, so here you go internet, it is exactly what you want it to be. Some NSFW language and violence, btw:
I think what is truly wonderful about this is that the editor probably rented every Schwarzenegger film on Netflix, converted everything into a .mov file, then transcribed every single thing Schwarzenegger has ever said, then grouped certain words and phrases thematically, then threw them all together. This is definitely a labor of love. Also, it is perfect for the list format, especially since Schwarzenegger's entire career was built on one-liners.
What is also wonderful is that Schwarzenegger, like Samuel Jackson, John Lithgow or Alan Rickman, fully embraces his idiotic roles and recites the most preposterous lines with aplomb and... dignity? Somehow it's dignified. Also, as Gawker pointed out, "the only problem with this video is that it's too short." Exactly correct. Just the Mr Freeze ice puns from Batman Forever was enough for 30 seconds:
And we're not even thinking about how ridiculous Schwarzenegger sounds in German, or all the "What If?"s associated with his amazing line from Total Recall "See you at the party, Richter!"
